From another ambassador; Singapore #1

Hello again!
Today I am posting something different! Here is first part of my fellow ambassador friend who had amazing time in Singapore! Enjoy

I was in Singapore at April 2015 via EF language course. I went there to study English, not Mandarin or Singlish, one month would’ve been too short to learn totally new language.
I got my travel free of charge, because I was Ambassador (guy who promote EF and tell about own trip in different places etc.) so I had enough points to have a free course.
But because I decided to take language course, instead of language travel, I had to buy flight tickets on my own.

I had actually two destinations in my mind, Miami and Singapore. I have been dreaming to travel to Miami for a long time, but when I started to search different destinations, I found Singapore. Still I was thinking that, well Miami would be very nice, but then I found out that there were not possibilities to stay in host family and that was the moment when I decided to take Singapore.
I have to say, I don’t regret my decision.

After 12 hours’ flight with Finnair, I finally arrived to Changi airport. To the airport, which have selected several times as a best airport in the world.
I didn’t walk around the airport that much, because I wanted to keep going and reach my final destination; my host family, as soon as possible. -- I had talked with my host family before, via email, so I knew something about them, and I also knew how to get to their home. They seemed very nice and friendly. -- I really recommend to talk with host family before your travel, because then you know something beforehand, and you might even have their photos so that you know how they look like.
I also warmly recommend to buy something from your home country for you host family, because after all you will stay there at least one month and they give you food, accommodation etc.
So it is just friendly gesture -- for example, I was first Finnish student ever in my host family, and they loved my Moomin mugs and Fazer blueberry-chocolate.

I have to say, that I have always been very shy, and before my Singapore trip, I was little afraid to talk English everywhere. And one of my goal was to get some courage to speak more English in public.
So when I didn’t find my host family apartment, I just had to find someone to ask directions.

After few hours, from airport to host family with Singapore metro system (SMRT, very good way to go around) and walking around, finally, I was standing front of their door and waiting someone to open it.
I was there, and one goal and dream was already reached.
And that was only the start of the one-month journey.
